Borromeo's Pizza

This week's post will be a tad shorter than usual.  Why, you ask?  Well, I'll forget that you're talking to your screen (I can't hear you, as far as you know) and I'll remind you that today is both the Louisville/Marquette game AND the Super Bowl.  If you weren't aware of today's sports significance, I'm quite happy that my blog has reached you under the rock that you are using for shelter.

On to the review!

This weekend, we had our first guests along with us for the review!  My parents asked me a few weeks ago about Borromeo's, so we invited them along.  (Note to friends:  you're more than welcome to tag along any time, we see these pizza outings as something fun to look forward to all week.)

Borromeo's is a small-ish pizza joint off of Smyrna Road.  It has recently moved, but not far from it's old location (for anybody who is familiar with the place).  It's got a few TVs around the place, with small ones on one wall and larger ones behind the bar.  It's also got a few arcade games, which Dad and I spent quite a bit of change on playing.  We're suckers for shooter games, and at only 25 cents a pop, we couldn't resist playing before (and after) we ate.  (For anyone concerned, I held my own against padre for a while, but the after-meal round showed that I have much work to do before I can claim the title of "top shot" of the family.)

As for the food, I must compel you to order the cheese bread as an appetizer.  They're practically famous for it.  Also, it passes the leftovers test for reheating.

For this week's pizza, we ordered a large thin crust pepperoni.  I noticed that it was a lot cheaper here than at other chains, which makes for a good reason to visit on that basis alone.  They style their pizzas like Wick's did last week, with the cheese on top of the pepperoni.  (For anyone wondering, my parents ordered a Supreme and enjoyed it.)

Since we ordered the pizza light on the sauce (Katie probably would have enjoyed it with a normal amount, but we didn't risk it), the cheese and pepperoni slid off of the pizza really easily.  That bothers me normally, but not so much this time.  The crust wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special.  Mom and Dad got an original crust and seemed to like it just fine.  The sauce was sweeter than places we've been to so far, and I've got a big sweet tooth, so I thought highly of this aspect.

I almost forgot!  If you noticed in the picture, I was able to take a picture without taking a slice of the pizza before remembering to do so.  My excitement is shown here:

Katie gave me a weird look that I assume she reserves for when I do something stupid in public.

Anywho, the game is starting soon so I'll wrap things up.

Leftovers:  Great!  Easily my favorite cold pizza so far.  Go order some Borromeo's (you can even order by the slice, if that's what you're into) and don't even eat it hot.  Stick it in the fridge until tomorrow.  Tell yourself it's some kind of self-control test, or something.  Enjoy it cold!   Katie reheated hers as usual, and she enjoyed it.

Overall grades:

Service:  It was lunchtime on a Saturday, and not crowded at all.  Service was fine.  Can't give an A without seeing it more busy than us and two other tables alone. (Grade:  B+)
Atmosphere:  Simply decorated, with TVs to spare and an awesome shooting game that will ensure I bring quarters every time I go.  (Grade:  A)
Taste:  Pretty decent stuff hot, excellent the next day cold.  (Grade:  A)
Accessibility:  Open space enough to bring a wheelchair without too much issue, and easy enough to find right off the Gene Snyder.  (Grade:  A)

Overall, I like Borromeo's!  It's game time now though, see ya'll next week!   Please feel free to comment and recommend our next visit, we don't have it chosen yet.
